Another SEGA AGES release which features reworked versions of 3 classic SEGA titles, Decathlete, Winter Heat and Virtua Athlete 2K all sharing similar gameplay mechanics which reward coordinated button mashing as seen on similar sport titles.

The graphics for all the games have been significantly upgraded and given the abundance of events and characters to choose from, the collection features 4-player competitive gameplay in which you can mix any character with any event, as well as three different gameplay modes: Free, Exhibition and Edit mode, in which you can set up your own series of events and challenges.

(PS2) Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol.26 - Dynamite Deka [NTSC-J] [221MB]

Although most of the Sega Ages 2500 library is forgettable at best, Sega kicked ass with this restoration of the ST-V powered beat 'em up classic Dynamite Deka (AKA Die Hard Arcade).

The reason being is that Sega went to great measures in enhancing the game's look and unlockable features to take use of the Playstation 2's extra power. All without compromising on the game itself. Dynamite Deka on PS2 definitely looks comparable to some of the full price games out at the same time. This is how you develop a budget game properly.

(PS2) Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol.27 - Panzer Dragoon [NTSC-J] [455MB]

An updated version of SEGA's classic rail shooter Panzer Dragoon in which you take to the skies atop your trusty Dragoon (which flies in a fixed path) and shoot at enemies that come at you from all directions.

As mentioned the PS2 remake features cleaned-up graphics as well as a fully-loaded "Pandora's Box" which includes image galleries and other bonus features.

Game's menu is in English so it's playable even if you don't know Japanese.

(PS2) Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol.19 - Fighting Vipers [NTSC-J] [91MB]

A remake of the one-on-one 3D fighting game Fighting Vipers for the PS2.

Fighting Vipers uses the same gameplay mechanics as Virtua Fighter but aims for a more distinctly arcade feel by loosing some of the gameplay depth in favor of speed and gimmicks such as two-piece armors that can be knocked off and destructible arena walls which can cause added damage as well as spectacular effects.

For the PS2 remake SEGA once again emulated their Model2 hardware under the PS2 to ensure an arcade perfect conversion, including the ability to run the game at 60fps or at 57.96fps (the actual speed of the original arcade version). Includes single, ranking and vs gameplay modes.

(PS2) Sega Ages 2500 Series Vol.14 - Alien Syndrome [NTSC-J] [335MB]

Alien Syndrome is a remake of SEGA's classic alien blaster for its 3D AGES label. In the game, an alien threat has seized your spaceship and your mission consists of escaping the doomed vessel by clearing each section until you get to the escape pod in standard top-down sidescroller fashion.

As you progress through the starship you'll find other survivors of the alien onslaught whom you must rescue in order to get vital items and aid. You'll need all the help you can get, as a time bomb also threatens to destroy you if you don't leave fast enough. Fortunately for this remake (which incorporates 3D graphics and newly arranged music) you also get full dual-analog controller support which allows for independent movement and firing directions, as well as 2-player co-op gameplay as added features and to animated cutscenes between levels.

One can certainly call Sega an eclectic game company without any hesitation. It tries different things, and...it gets atypical results. Take for instance, arcade-style 18-wheeler driving. Who would have thought that driving an 18-wheeler would be so much damn fun? In the arcades it's a visceral, horn-blowing blast. The steering wheel is heavy and stylized, the cabinet is massive, and the whole rig gives you the undeniable feeling that you are as close to driving an 18-wheeler as possible.

Yakuza is a sprawling tale of underworld Tokyo featuring 3rd-person action/adventure mechanics. The main character, Kazuma Kiryu, is a feared Yakuza enforcer who is embroiled in a mystery that involves his closest friends and $10 billion yen missing from the Yakuza clan's main bank.

The core of the game is hand-to-hand fighting, where the player can use an enormous variety of weapons and items against his enemies. The game features a character upgrade system, where experience points will give Kazuma more hit points, unlock new moves, increase the heat gauge (special power meter), or unlock new heat moves, which give the player the most powerful and nasty looking attacks in the game.
