(PS2) Dakar 2 [PAL-E] [402MB]

Dakar 2 is a racing game, of course simulating the famous Paris-Dakar Rally. Although not the real 6000 kilometers can be crossed in the game, the rally mode takes the player through 12 tracks all the way from France to Dakar. The tracks lead racers through cities, forests and the desert. Most of them are simple tracks, but there are desert tracks where the player can drive around freely, finding the checkpoints faster than the opponents. The player can choose from the officially licensed cars, trucks and bikes from Dakar 2002, but only vehicles of the same type can compete in a race. There is also an arcade racing mode, where all the tracks and vehicles that have been unlocked in rally mode can be selected, as well as a splitscreen mode for two players.

(PS2) Burnout [NTSC-U] [591MB]

Burnout is a arcade style racing game in the mold of the Test Drive or Need For Speed series. In this game, you are racing on realistic streets with real traffic to contend with.

There are 6 courses on which to race, 3 of which are reminiscent of Europe, and 3 from the USA. There are several vehicles to choose from, ranging from compact cars to pickups. However, they are not based on real makes and models.

One notable feature of Burnout is the "Burn Meter." The Burn Meter is a gauge that is filled by performing reckless stunts, like racing into oncoming traffic, or power-drifting through corners. Once the Burn Meter is filled, your car gets a super speed boost.

(PS2) Urban Freestyle Soccer [PAL-E] [920MB]

Games take place on scabby scraps of tarmac under motorway flyovers and in between ghetto hi-rises. Each team has four players, and goals are fashioned from scaffolding posts, garage doors and everyone's old school favourite - folded up jumpers.

(PS2) Burnout 2: Point of Impact [NTSC-U] [1.99 GB]

Racing a car is one thing, but racing into traffic at high speeds, where you are rewarded for the style of your crash, is another. This is the idea behind Burnout 2, which brings new modes and higher speeds compared to the original title. As usual, the aim is to speed around real life roadways, through the traffic ahead, while keeping all 4 wheels on the ground.

Burnout is a street racing game focused around speed and crashing. Unlike many games which focus on closed course driving, you get to drive through cities with real traffic and city infrastructure. Designers have built an entire city and surrounding areas, and implement the race courses throughput the countie's streets. As a result, many times certain parts of race-courses interlace with other parts of other races. As well, instead of encouraging strategic driving and safe driving, Burnout strongly encourages offensive driving. Driving on the wrong side of the road, barely missing passing traffic, drifting, and jumps all add to your boost "burnout" meter. Speed boosts and jumps aid your attempt to dive past buses, trucks and anything else that gets in the way. The more offensive and dangerous your driving is, the more boost you get!

Burnout 2 contains a full campaign and custom car campaign. While you can unlock regular cars and tracks, later in the campaign you unlock more raceways like reverse tracks and one-way sprints. You can unlock over 20 cars like a Nascar, a 1920's gangster car, a Japanese muscle, and many customized vehicles with custom paint jobs and upgraded stats.

[PSX] Bubble Bobble also featuring Rainbow Islands [PAL-E] [37.6 MB]

Bubble Bobble: One or two players attempt to save their friends in this re-release of the 1987 classic puzzle/action game. Players blow bubbles to trap enemies. When they pop the bubbles, fruit comes out and the players compete for the points. If they don't pop the bubbles in time, the enemies escape and become faster.

Rainbow Islands: one player only. Rainbow Islands is the sequel to Bubble Bobble. Instead of bubbles, you create rainbows. The highly versatile rainbow can be used as bridges, as platforms, or as a weapon. You can shoot a rainbow at an enemy, you can trap it inside, or you can drop a rainbow on an enemy from above.

(PS2) Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge [PAL-E] [952MB]

Fur Fighters: Viggo's Revenge is essentially a port of the Dreamcast title, known simply as Fur Fighters. The most obvious difference between the two titles is that the former has received a complete graphical makeover, using the "cel-shading" technique popularized by cartoon-style games, such as Jet Set Radio Future. The titular Fur Fighters are in fact a rag-tag band of heroes whose members include Roofus the hound, Tweek the baby dragon, Chang the fox, Rico the penguin, and Juliette the cat. General Viggo, the villain of the piece, has captured the animals' families and it's up to these unlikely heroes to rescue them.

What follows is a third-person romp through 30 stages, each filled with gun battles and punctuated by the odd smattering of puzzle elements. Each character has an innate ability at their disposal and is usually required to solve puzzles and gain access to new areas. Dispatching the many enemies is done via an arsenal of 20 different weapons, including rocket launchers, automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns. Atypically, the game houses no blood and gore. Instead, when killed, enemies explode in heaps of white animal stuffing. Cinematic interludes are accompanied by full voice acting as opposed to the gibberish-talking protagonists found in the Dreamcast offering.

[PSX] Killing Zone [Rip, NTSC-U]

Seven infamous monsters from Frankenstein to the Minotaur go head to head in this early PlayStation fighting game.

These initial seven monsters are all there is; there are no hidden characters to unlock or a final boss to beat.

Most of the characters are slow and un-manoeuvrable. This may be by design to represent the weight of the monsters; most of them are big and their fighting styles could be considered anything but skill based. For instance the Skeleton can jump on the opponent and stab them in the neck repeatedly with its sword while the Minotaur gores them with its horns. It must be said that the attacks in the game generally fit their respective monster.

There are only two game modes available with the main one being the standard "Normal Mode" where one player goes up against the six other monsters and finally a mirror match. A second player can join in at any point (in fact it's the only way a second player can play as there is no Vs mode). If one completes this mode they are presented with a breakdown of their performance in each fight, though no ending in the real sense, as the game has no story at tall to explain why these monsters are fighting each other.
